CN Tower

4th October

The morning after the night before, we got up late, did some tidying up in the apartment, and finally headed out into the city. Jenn had to go into the office (booo!) so we walked with her past City Hall to the Eaton Centre to get a key cut for the apartment. With Jenn headed off to work, we had a quick lunch and then checked out the Apple store so I could buy the new iPod nano I've been promising myself (product red, 16GB).

We walked from the Eaton Centre and down Yonge St (apparently the longest street in the world, though we only walked a tiny bit of it!) and along Front Street past Union Station and the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. We headed for the CN Tower, because no visit to Toronto would be complete without a trip to the top. We took the external elevator up to the observation deck and glass floor, and then a 2nd elevator up a further 33 stories to the highest accessible point. It's the tallest freestanding structure in the world at 553m tall (about 1800 feet) at the top of the aerial. We had a great time looking out across the city and over Lake Ontario, and we were lucky to have pretty clear skies.

When we finally tired of the tower we wandered back to Jenn's, via a pub called the Loose Moose for a quick pint. Jenn cooked us some delicious oriental soup. Afterwards we ate yummy Ben and Jerry's ice cream while we watched the first half of Chicago on DVD (one of Jenn's favourite films but that neither Stu or I had seen yet). We went to bed, a little drunk after finishing off some of the drinks from Saturday night :)
