The Trembling Mountain

29th September

More rain. Rubbish. Had a bit of a lie-in and a lovely breakfast in a restaurant in the village (french toast with fruit and maple syrup - yum!) Then tried to decide how to make the best of the place in the bad weather. We'd have liked to have a go at canoeing on the lake or take a pony trek round the area, but neither appealed in the rain, specially when it could change for the worse at any minute, being up in the mountains. Fortunately the lady at the activity booking place came up with a good idea - to go on a cruise on the lake.

We explored a bit of Tremblant, then joined a boat load of other tourists for a 70 min tour of Lake Tremblant, in a boat with a roof. We stood on the back of the boat for much of the time so we could take some pictures and get wet - but still preferable to a canoe, and they served beer on board :) Have I mentioned yet how impressed we are with canadian beer? We particularly like Boreale and Molsen Dry.

There are some amazing houses round the lake with amazing views, and a quick look in the estate agent's window confirmed our suspicions - very reasonably priced for the size of the properties, compared with the UK. It's easy to see why people are so keen to emigrate out here! Our guide pointed out a couple of celebrity houses - the former owner of Tommy Hilfiger has a place on the lake and now owns the Tremblant race track which hosted F1 a couple of times. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones have a place on the mountain too apparently.

After that we went for a drive around the town, before heading back to our condo to chill out for a while. We spotted a couple of deer in someone's front garden earlier in the day, and saw another on the way back. We'd have stopped to take some pictures but we were in a hurry to get back to the loo! Hopefully they won't be the last we'll see.

After a bit of a chill out we headed for a dip in the hot tub before dinner. An early meal, followed by some beers and ice cream (Haagen dazs sticky toffee pudding flavour, slurp) back at the condo, and yet again we're all worn out. This holiday malarky's hard work!
